This flush-mounted socket from Merten is intended to switch all kinds of loads.  A pattress box is needed for installation.The unit is designed for use within a 3-wire system, which means that a neutral wire (blue) is needed for operations. This flush-mounted socket is no Z-Wave device but needs to be completed with an active Z-Wave-equipped switching-paddle like MER_504419 or MER_503419 plus an appropriate mounting frame of the switch series selected. The socket provides the power to the active Z-Wave-equipped switching-paddle. The paddle itself controls the socket via electrical signals as well.
